Covid-19 Response Updates

Update March 23, 2020


Yes, Hometown Title, Inc., will be open during normal business hours – with some limitations as noted herein – until further notice, as title services are classified as an essential business in Gov. Pritzker’s Executive Order issued on March 20.

Closings will continue as scheduled; however, we ask that attendees be limited to only those individuals who will be signing (i.e., sellers, buyers, borrowers). Loan officers are asked to not attend unless special circumstances warrant their presence. We request that agents allow us to mail them their document copies and commission checks to minimize traffic in our offices. We further ask all closing attendees to maintain the recommended 6-foot space between themselves and individuals in our office.

Any individuals with an upcoming closing who, in the last 14 days, have traveled internationally, have had flu-like symptoms, or have had close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 should contact us immediately.

Searches, commitment and policy issuance, and recording also will continue. Due to courthouses and other public buildings closing or restricting access, these services may take a bit longer to complete than usual. While we typically strive to accommodate rush orders, we cannot give preference to any file until we return to business as usual.

Additionally, to help keep our staff safe and further promote social distancing, most employees will be working from home. Customers still can reach them by email and phone, just like when they are in the office. You may need to leave a message for one of our staff, but we will return your call in a timely manner. '

Dear Hometown Title, Inc., customer,

Providing you with the highest level of service is a top priority at Hometown. As you probably are aware, many public offices have been closing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This communication is to update you on how we are addressing these changes.

At this time, most county recorder’s offices are still open, enabling us to continue searching and recording. However, due to closed courthouses and city buildings, we may not be able to access the court documents necessary to complete searches with special circumstances (e.g., foreclosures, estates, divorces, etc.). A member of our staff will contact you to discuss options should one of your transactions be affected.

In the coming weeks, we will provide updates – on our Facebook page and website at – on any changes and the steps we are taking to keep our customers and employees safe and healthy.

Update March 16, 2020

Hometown Title, Inc., like so many other businesses around the country, is taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

At this time, all scheduled closings will proceed as planned. If you need to reschedule or postpone a closing, please contact your closer as soon as you know the change is necessary.

In all our offices, we have adopted additional cleaning procedures, including disinfecting all public areas after closings and asking individuals to take any pens used for signings with them.

Further, we have instructed any employee showing signs of illness to stay home and follow procedures as prescribed by local, state, and national agencies.
